Can You Pull Someone’s Bail Bond After They Are Released From Jail?
Not without a valid reason. Commonly co-signers are girlfriends or friends of the defendant, but if they break up during their case then many times they will try to withdraw as the cosigner at which time the bail bond company will ask the court to be released as the surety for the person’s bail bond. This is a very shady practice and is commonly done before the next court date, and many times a bail bondsman will double check with the defendant to make sure they appear in court. At this point, the defendant has no official bond, and they will be arrested when they come to court.
Other reasons for pulling a bail bond include the defendant moving or their non compliance with their weekly check-in. Missing payments on a payment plan and violations of tracking devices could also result in a bail bond being pulled.
