How is Bail Bond Refunded?
Most people commonly confuse posting a bond as a cash bond. If a cash bond was posted, you posted the entire bond amount. But if you could not afford that option, then you paid an insurance company a percentage of the entire amount. Just like you prepay car insurance and if you get in an accident, they pay for the repairs, not you. Just like car insurance, even if you never get in an accident, you still paid them to insure you. In the same vein, bail bondsman insure you to get out of jail. Therefore, a bail bond premium paid to a bondsman is non-refundable. It doesn’t matter if the case is dropped or dismissed, the bondsman gets to keep that money.
