What is a Property Bond?
In Texas, people who are arrested and have higher bail bonds have the option to try to post what is called a property bond, but using one to get released is very rare. Paperwork establishing the value of the property, liens and proof the property is in Texas needs to be provided, as well as proof of mortgage. A lien will be put on by the court for usually more than the amount of the bail bond, and they will foreclose on the property if the defendant fails to show back up for court. The property bond process is very complicated and it takes time, plus there is no guarantee that a judge will sign off on it.
