With a Cash Only Bond, Can You Still Get a Bail Bond From a Bonding Company?
If the judge set a cash only bail bond, unfortunately, the only option is to come up with the full cash amount. Most judges at the jail will defer to the county or district judges decision to make it a cash only bond. It is very rare that a magistrate will fill out a judge’s card to modify the type of bond they can use to get out.
Hiring a lawyer to help change the bail bond type is a good idea, but not a guarantee, as there is usually a reason the judge set this in the first place. During normal court working hours, the lawyer can approach the judge in court or in chambers to advocate for personal bond and clear up any miscommunication that might have happened between a previous lawyer and a defendant.
